About Us

We are homebirth midwives excited to be with women giving birth. We trust in women’s ability to birth with little or no intervention. We believe that the birthing woman is the expert and we support her where she is, physically and emotionally.    We serve women in Wayne, Susquehanna, Wyoming, Lackawanna, Luzerne, Monroe, Carbon, Northampton and Lehigh counties, with offices in Stroudsburg and Mount Pocono Pennsylvania.

Our Philosophy

Homebirth for low risk women is a great choice. According to  Varney's Midwifery, "Birth is profoundly affected by the environment in which it takes place." She goes on to say that when birth moves out of the hospital power is transferred to the woman who now is "away from external regulations and policies that are imposed on her childbirth experience."

We respect every woman's ability to give birth understanding that birth is a unique journey that unfolds at its own pace and time.

Birth is a normal, natural and healthy process. Women and babies have the inherent wisdom necessary for birth. Babies are aware, sensitive human beings at the time of birth and should be acknowledged and treated as such.*

The midwifery model of care, which supports and protects the normal birth process, is the most appropriate for the majority of women during pregnancy and birth.*

A woman's confidence and ability to give birth and to care for her baby are enhanced or diminished by every person who gives her care and by the environment in which she gives birth. A mother and baby's interconnectedness is vital and must be respected. Pregnancy, birth and the postpartum period are experiences that profoundly affect women, babies, fathers and families and have important and long-lasting effects on society.*

Every woman should have the opportunity to:

  • Have a healthy and joyous birth experience for herself and her family. *
  • Give birth as she wishes in an environment in which she feels nurtured and secure, and her emotional well-being , privacy and personal preferences are respected. *
  • Receive support for making informed choices about what is best for her and her baby based on her individual values and beliefs. *
  • Receive maternity care  based  on the needs of  the mother and baby not on the caregiver. Individuals are ultimately responsible for making informed choices about the health care they and their babies receive. *
